Get out of your vehicle, out of traffic, and out of further danger. If possible, collect information about the accident at the scene, or as soon after as is practical. Help the injured at the scene of the accident.

Call 911 for police or medical assistance. Even if there are no apparent injuries, police may be necessary to handle traffic and clear the accident scene. They will also fill out an important accident report, so let them know if any party is injured, or has left the scene. If the police fail to arrive at the scene, go to the local police department to file a report. If the other vehicle left the scene of the accident, try to give the police whatever information you can about the vehicle (license plate number, description of vehicle and driver).

Exchange Information no matter who is at fault. Gather the following info from the other driver(s) involved:

* Name
* Address
* Telephone Numbers
* Drivers License Numbers
* Insurance Company
* Vehicle Year, Make, Model, Plate Number

Document time and place of accident, weather and road conditions, and other circumstances of the accident. Get names and contact info of witnesses and passangers, and the police officer’s name, badge and department telephone number.

Don’t sign anything except a police citation, ticket or report. Signing other documents may jeopardize your rights.

Obtain medical attention as soon as possible. Shock and trauma can mask a serious injury. If in doubt about your condition go to the emergency room (ER). The ER is only concerned about immediate danger (shock, fracture, hemmorage, concussion, etc.) , and will release you once you are stable. This does NOT mean that you are without whiplash or subluxation or other injury!

After being released from the ER, or as soon as possible after the incident (if you chose to not go to the ER), call your chiropractor at 706-529-1149 for a thorough auto injury evaluation and treatment. Bring any children involved, and any passangers in your car, if available, for a check-up.

Call your insurance company and give them all the information you have collected. If you were injured or if your car was damaged, your insurance company needs to be notified proptly in order to conduct an investigation into the claim. Your claim will probably be denied by the insurance company if there is late or no notice. Ypu may want to follow up with a written notice.

Don’t discuss the accident at the scene. Except for giving necessary details to police, medical personnel, your insurance company, or your attorney. Especially avoid discussion about the accident with insurance companies or lawyers representing others. Refer inquiries to your insurance company, your doctor, or your attorney.

You can print this page for future reference, to be placed in your glove box in case of an emergency. Or you can download the entire form to be printed and placed inside all of your vehicles. In an emergency – don’t panic. Just simply follow the instructions.

The short answer to the above question is YES, oral and sublingual HCG is a complete and utter fraud. HCG is only biologically active when injected into the body via a hypodermic needle. This fact apparently does not stop numerous web sites from offering “oral” or “sublingual” forms of HCG for sale in order to avoid the need for injections. Advertisements promoting these forms of HCG do not contain actual HCG since HCG must be dispensed by prescription only and must to be given by injection to be effective.

Claims that HCG can be absorbed in the oral mucosa are nonsense. To date, science hasn’t been able to produce a way to deliver the intact HCG hormone into the blood stream in any way except by injection, just as insulin has to be given by injection to be effective. HCG is over 5 times larger than insulin and it is not possible for that size of protein to be absorbed through a person’s mucus membranes. If it is taken orally the HCG protein is digested by enzymes that break it up into amino acids and it is no longer HCG. The 244 amino acids in this large, fragile polypeptide hormone (HCG) are in exact sequence with a specific 3-dimensional shape, which fits cell receptors like a key in a lock. Even if the chemical formula remains the same, a change in shape blocks HCG activity. Once dissolved in a solution, the cross-linkages maintaining the shape break quite easily and can become unstable.

The fact is all of the published benefits of using HCG for rapid weight loss are based on injected HCG. None of its prized benefits are seen with oral or sublingual forms. One of the major effects of receiving HCG by injection is that the person’s appetite is severely suppressed. When oral or sublingual forms of HCG are given, an additional oral appetite suppressant must also be given, thus providing additional evidence that HCG does not actually get into the individual’s circulation with these methods of administration.

There are no published reports that have been able to demonstrate a measurable amount of HCG in a person’s blood when given in either oral or sublingual forms. The one report that is cited by most web sites as providing proof actually states “On treatment days 0, 15, and 30 we have tested all volunteers, screening for the presence of plasmatic hCG. Concentrations were undetectable in all cases (data not shown).”* The study was poorly designed as well because it did not include proper controls. There was no group of people tested that were given HCG via injection, the only proven way of getting the benefits of using HCG for rapid weight loss. Furthermore, the study was not published in a peer reviewed medical journal. Instead, it was published on the primary author’s website.

Claims that oral or sublingual HCG are as effective as when HCG is given by injection are marketing attempts intended to deceive scientifically unsophisticated consumers. Bottom line, the only effective and safe way to receive the benefits of HCG for rapid weight loss is via injection with a prescription under the supervision of a licensed physician.

He Decided To Eat Three Meals A Day For 30 Days At McDonald’s And Document The Impact On His Health. Prior To This Experiment He Was A Strapping 6-Foot-2 New Yorker – Who Started Out At A Healthy 185 Pounds.

After The 30 Day Regime Spurlock Had Gained 30 Pounds And Suffered Other Health Consequences. Within A Few Days Of Beginning His Drive-Through Diet, Spurlock, 33, Was Vomiting Out The Window Of His Car. “It Was Really Crazy – My Body Basically Fell Apart Over The Course Of 30 Days,” Spurlock Told The Post.

The Doctors Who Examined Him Were Shocked At How Rapidly Spurlock’s Entire Body Had Deteriorated. Upon Testing They Noted That His Liver Became Toxic, His Cholesterol Shot Up From A Low 165 To 230, His Libido Flagged And He Suffered Headaches And Depression.

Spurlock Recorded His Journey From Fit To Flab In A Tongue-In-Cheek Documentary, Called “Super Size Me“, Which He Has Taken To The Sundance Film Festival With The Hopes Of Getting A Distribution Deal. The Liver Test Was The Most Shocking Thing – It Became Very, Very Abnormal.”

In The Article Spurlock Further Recounted His Ordeal, “I Got Desperately Ill,” He Says. “My Face Was Splotchy And I Had This Huge Gut, Which I’ve Never Had In My Life. My Knees Started To Hurt From The Extra Weight Coming On So Quickly. It Was Amazing – And Really Frightening. I Was Feeling Like A Typical American On Thanksgiving – Very Bloated And Happy On The Couch – And At Some Point On The News They Were Talking About Two Women Who Were Suing McDonald’s. People From The Food Industry Were Saying, ‘You Can’t Link Kids Being Fat To Our Food – Our Food Is Nutritious.’ I Said, ‘How Nutritious Is It Really? Let’s Find Out.”

Not Surprisingly, Spurlock Has Steered Clear Of The Golden Arches Since The Filming Of His Documentary Was Completed.

The South Beach Diet Is A Relatively New Weight Loss Diet. It Is Written By Dr. Arthur Agatston, Director Of The Mount Sinai Cardiac Prevention Center In Miami Beach, Florida. Published By Rodale ($24.95, Hardcover, 310pp).

Agatston Says He Created The South Beach Diet Program After Becoming Disillusioned With The Low-Fat, High-Carbohydrate Diet Of The American Heart Association And The High Fat Theories Of Dr Atkins. In The End, The South Beach Diet Falls Somewhere In Between.

South Beach Diet – Brief Explanation

Like The Atkins Diet, The South Beach Diet Plan Is Divided Into Phases.

* Phase 1 – Lasts 14-Days – The Strictest Phase Of The Diet
In The First Phase, You Eat Normal-Sized Helpings Of Lean Meats, Such As Chicken, Turkey, Fish, And Shellfish. Vegetables Are Also Allowed, So Are Nuts, Cheese, And Eggs. The Goal Is To Eat Three Balanced Meals A Day, And To Eat Enough So That You Don’t Feel Hungry All The Time. A Typical South Beach Diet Breakfast Is Two Eggs And Lean Bacon. A Mid-Morning Snack Is Celery Stuffed With 1 Wedge Laughing Cow Light Cheese. Lunch Might Be Salad Greens With Grilled Chicken. For An Afternoon Snack, 10 Cherry Tomatoes With 1/2 Cup Low Fat Cottage Cheese. Dinner May Be Lean Meat Again With Fiber-Rich Vegetables.
Diet Foods To Enjoy: Include, Tenderloin, Sirloin, Or Top Round, Skinless Chicken Or Turkey Breasts, All Types Of Fish And Shellfish, Boiled Ham, Canadian Bacon, Turkey Bacon, Whole Eggs, Fat-Free Cheeses, Peanuts And Pistachios, Green Vegetables, Legumes, Canola And Olive Oils.
Diet Foods To Avoid: Include, Beef Rib Steaks, Honey-Baked Ham, Breast Of Veal, All Yogurt, Ice Cream, Milk Including Whole, Low-Fat, Soy, And Full Fat Cheeses, Beets, Carrots, Corn, Yams, Fruits And Fruit Juices, All Alcohol, All Starchy Foods Such As Bread, Cereal, Oatmeal, Matzo, Rice, Pasta, Pastries, Baked Goods, Crackers, Etc.
Expected Weight Loss: 8-13 Pounds.

* Phase 2 – Lasts Until You Reach Your Weight Loss Goal – More Liberal Phase
The Second Phase Is Similar To The First Phase, But You Reintroduce Some Of The Banned Foods And Eat From All The Dietary Food Groups. You Can Start Eating High-Fiber Carbohydrates, Such As Whole-Grain Breads, Which Raise Your Insulin Levels In A Much Milder Way That Do Simple, Starchy Carbs.
Additional Diet Foods To Enjoy: Include, Most Fruits, Fat-Free Or 1 Percent Milk, Other Low-Fat Dairy Foods, Whole Grain Starches, Barley And Pinto Beans And Red Wine.
Diet Foods To Eat Sparingly, Include: Refined Wheat Baked Goods, Potatoes, Beets, Carrots, Bananas, Pineapple, Watermelon And Honey.
Expected Weight Loss: 1-2 Pounds Per Week.

* Phase 3 – Weight Maintenance
This Diet Phase, Which Is An Even More Liberal Version Of The Initial Diet Plan, Lasts The Rest Of Your Life. It Should Be Used To Maintain Your Healthy Weight. Agatston Describes This Phase As A “Way Of Life.” Should Your Weight Begin To Climb, You Repeat The Diet Plan.

South Beach Diet – Claims

* Promotes Rapid Initial Weight Loss Of 8-13 Pounds In 14 Days.
* Thereafter, Offers Weight Loss Of About 1-2 Pounds, Per Week.
* Helps To Improve Eating Habits And Stabilize Blood Sugar Levels.
* Helps To Improve Good To Bad Cholesterol Ratio And Reduce Triglycerides.

South Beach Diet – Drawbacks

* The South Beach Diet Is Subtitled The Delicious, Doctor-Designed, Foolproof Plan For Fast And Healthy Weight Loss. Such A Description Is Bound To Raise Expectations To Unrealistic Levels. The Truth Is, There Is Nothing Especially New About This Diet – Or Any Diet Plan That Cuts Out Unhealthy Processed Foods Together With Excess Sugar, And Recommends Less Saturated Fat.
* Much Of The Initial 8-13 Pounds Weight-Loss Is Likely To Be Water-Weight-Loss Caused By Carbohydrate Restriction. Such Weight Loss Is Typically Regained, As Soon As Carb-Intake Resumes.
* Another Drawback Of The South Beach Diet Is The Lack Of Options For People Who Don’t Like Or Can’t Eat Dairy. Many Snacks Are Dairy-Based, Yet The Diet Bans Soy In The First Two Weeks.
* Although Dr. Agatston Has Concerns Regarding The Liberal Intake Of Saturated Fats Permitted On The Atkins Diet Plan, And Offers Sound Advice On The Subject, He Remains Unreasonably Unyielding On Complex Carbs. Most Of The World Outside America Thrives On Complex Carbs And These Foods Do Not Keep Us Overweight, Nor Do They Warrant A 14-Day Ban. In This Way, Dr Agatston Is Helping To Perpetuate The American Fear Of Carbs.
* Despite The Many Positive Features Of The South Beach Diet, It’s Best To Seek The Advice Of A Registered Dietitian Or Your Doctor Before Undertaking Any Diet Plan That Induces Ketosis (As A Result Of Carb-Restriction) Because The Body Is Shedding Water And This Might Cause An Electrolyte Imbalance Without Proper Hydration. In Addition, Low-Carb Diet Plans Are Not Generally Recommended For Anyone With Kidney Problems.

South Beach Diet – Our Opinion

Although We Do Not Agree With Some Of The Anti-Carb Propositions In The South Beach Diet, This Diet Is Full Of Sensible Advice About (E.G.) Fat, Hunger, Refined Foods And Balanced Eating. Who Cares If It Doesn’t Contain Any New Or Ground-Breaking Dietary Advice? The South Beach Diet Is A Perfectly Do-Able Diet Plan With A Range Of Interesting Recipes And Diet Ideas, And Encourages Long-Term Eating From All Food Groups

Spine

Raise your hand if you know someone taking drugs to lower their blood pressure. Well. That’s about 100%. We ALL know someone doing that. And, I guess we all know why. “Unresolved” chronic high blood pressure can supposedly cause stroke, congestive heart failure and kidney failure. In other words, modern Medicine must coerce people through fear to take drugs to control a body function.

Unfortunately, those prescribing drugs for high blood pressure rarely know what is causing a patient’s problem. In fact, they may not even stop to think that there may be a GOOD reason for a person’s elevated blood pressure. It just might be that there is some condition causing their body to NEED more blood. Most prescriptions for blood pressure medications rarely consider the CAUSE of the problem, whatsoever.

Virtually all prescriptions for blood pressure drugs come in one of four categories: diuretics, beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors and calcium channel blockers. And remember, these drugs only mask the symptom of some unknown condition while having NO healing properties AND even the least toxic ones can have deadly side effects.

So, the title of this article implies that high blood pressure can be positively affected by chiropractic care. You might be asking “What the heck does chiropractic have to do with high blood pressure?” I’m glad you asked. While some folks think chiropractic may be great for back pain, they rarely consider that what chiropractic adjustments really do is take pressure off either specific nerve roots or off the entire nerve system altogether, or both. For our purposes here, I want you to consider something called the Vagus Nerve.

The Vagus Nerve is a very special nerve located in an area called the brain stem. The brain stem is located just below the brain and just above the spinal cord. One of its jobs is to regulate your heart rate, blood pressure, digestion and many other functions. In fact, the Vagus Nerve is kind of like the reset switch on your computer. When things lock up, one of the first things you try is the reset button. Most times, that resolves the problem.

Everyone’s heard of the body’s “fight or flight” mechanism where you gear up for a fight or an to escape a life threatening situation. In our rushed and harried world, many of us stay in this “fight or flight” mode due to chronic stress. Over time, this causes chronic high blood pressure. Our diet and lack of exercise also contribute to the problem. Yet, few doctors recommend stress reduction, diet and exercise as a means of dealing with high blood pressure.

So, how do chiropractic adjustments help lower blood pressure? Specific adjustments of the bone at the top of the neck, called the Atlas, can help reduce stress on the brain stem. Reducing stress on the brain stem can stimulate the Vagus Nerve, helping to slow down your heart rate and lower the blood pressure. There are lots of technical explanations for this. But, this article is directed at people who want to get off drugs and lower the blood pressure naturally, not someone looking to justify the use of drugs. In short, chiropractic adjustments of the upper cervical spine stimulate what’s called the parasympathetic nervous system, or the reset button for the “fight or flight” mechanism.

While any good chiropractor can adjust the upper cervical spine, I believe the best results come from specific upper cervical adjustments. And you just might realize other benefits from upper cervical chiropractic adjustments, like better sleep, digestion and elimination. maybe even better sex. But, that’s a topic for another day.

Like any diet, you need to be aware of what could happen to you and your body, along with the side effects. It’s not just detox diets that have side effects; just about any diet that restricts calorie intake will have side effects and health issues. I would suggest that before embarking on the Master Cleanse that you do as much research as you can to make sure you are fully informed, this way you can weigh up the pros and cons for yourself.

Nutrition experts warn there are possible risks from extended or regular fasts of any kind. Things like vitamin deficiencies, blood sugar level problems and muscle break down. If you deprive your body of the vitamins and minerals we get from eating solid foods, something that is not allowed on most detox diets, you can actually weaken your body’s ability to fight infection.

People with diabetes should avoid fasting as it can upset blood sugar, potassium and sodium levels in the body. If you are diabetic you may be able to do the Master Cleanse, there are special guidelines in the book written by Stanley Burroughs so make sure you get a copy and read this section to see what specials things you have to do.

If you suffer from digestive conditions then it is best that you consult your doctor before considering a fasting diet such as the master cleanse. People with heart or kidney disease and women that are nursing or expecting a baby should probably avoid any type of fast. Once again, it is best to check with your doctor to see what the risks are.

One of the biggest challenges people face is coming off the fast, and you need to pay special attention to getting this right. You will need 3 to 5 days before you can go back to your normal diet.

In addition to the above possible health issues, you may encounter several side effects such as headache, fatigue, irritability, aches and pains not to mention lots of bathroom time, this in itself can create discomfort to the skin on your bottom.

Although the list of possible issues exists, thousands of people swear by the Master Cleanse as a regular ritual. Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie and Beyonce Knowles all report positive results from a detox diet with Beyonce quoted as losing 20 pounds in just 10 days preparing for Dreamgirls. Many master cleanse fans report increased energy and feelings of wellbeing after completing the cleanse, saying that the side effects are well worth it, and to top it off, the side effects in most cases will reduce each time you do the Master Cleanse.

If you’re looking for a way to cleanse your body of all the nasty toxins that are collected from your normal diet, then the Master Cleanse is a great option. Although you will lose weight on this diet, you are likely to put half of it back on. So for a long term weight loss, you would be best to choose a diet and exercise plan that will give you the long term results. However, if you need to lose 10 pounds in a hurry the Master Cleanse may be a good choice for you.
